However, there are a number of organizations who do practice in the field of Indian Law which are listed below or may be found on the Indian Law Program website under Resources. Please note, we do not endorse or guarantee the services which you might obtain from any of the organizations listed below. We provide this information as a starting point for people who are seeking legal assistance, and do not claim that this list is in any way comprehensive. If you are seeking an individual attorney for representation, we suggest that you contact your state’s bar association.

The Southwest Indian Law Clinic is part of the UNM School of Law Clinical Law Programs. The SILC Director is Professor Christine Zuni Cruz and, under her supervision and the supervision of other clinical professors, law students actively represent clients in state, federal and tribal courts and in various administrative agencies. You may contact SILC by phone or mail to determine whether your case may be eligible for representation by a SILC student. (Note: There are specific guidelines as to who is eligible for Clinical Program representation, and SILC professors must determine whether or not each case is appropriate to the skill level of law students. Therefore, not all cases are accepted.)
