Accreditation & Professional Associations
Accreditation
Founded in 1947, The University of New Mexico School of Law was accredited in 1948 by the American Bar Association and admitted to membership in the Association of American Law Schools.
Professional Associations
In 1971, our school was granted a chapter in the Order of the Coif, a national honorary scholastic society whose purpose is to encourage excellence in legal education by recognizing those who as law students attained a high grade of scholarship, and honoring those who as lawyers, judges and teachers attain high distinction for their scholarly or professional accomplishments.
UNM School of Law is also a member of CALI, a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit consortium of law schools that researches and develops computer-mediated legal instruction and supports institutions and individuals using technology in legal education.
UNM School of Law is more than a place that educates lawyers; it broadens the definition of community. At the only law school in the state, students gain not only the foundation that allows them to practice anywhere in the country, they get to know the people of New Mexico through service. By the time they graduate they have discovered the importance of their legal roles in their communities.
