  • Course Description

This course will focus on the concept of discrimination under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and Section 1981. Likely topics include Disparate Treatment, Disparate Impact, Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Age Discrimination, and Retaliation. The course uses both a casebook and a set of problems based on realistic fact patterns. Students will be assigned topics and problems for discussion in class.

Grading will be based on class participation and group service learning projects designed and chosen by the students. In the past, students have helped organize a conference for Navajo women coal miners, prepared a day-long workshop for public school officials, and traveled to Ciudad Juarez to collaborate with Mexican law students providing community education to maquiladora workers.

This course does not satisfy the writing requirement.
