This course will offer students the unique opportunity to apply concepts of health law, employment law and securities law to the practical context of an internal investigation, wherein a company seeks to uncover misconduct or improper actions for criminal and civil liability and regulatory compliance purposes. In applying these substantive concepts, the students will learn about the ethical and legal boundaries of conducting an internal investigation, including the use of Upjohn warnings, document retention memorandums, witness interviews and proper collection of materials for review in an investigation.
