UNM School of Law Policy on Student Employment
Academic Year 2009-2010

The UNM School of Law’s policy on student employment is distributed annually in the BULLETIN AND HANDBOOK OF POLICIES, and is as follows:

Full-time law students will be permitted to hold employment during the academic year only within the following limitations:

First-year students – Incoming students are discouraged from holding outside employment during their first semester, but any first year student who wants to work must abide by the 15 hour. During the second semester a student may work up to 15 hours per week if the student is in good academic standing.

Second and third- year students – no more than twenty hours a week so-long-as the student is in good academic standing.

Flex students (FTLEP) – are able to work more than 20 hours per week.

NOTE: Students cannot begin work prior to being placed on the student payroll for work study positions until all paperwork has been processed through main campus. See Mary Dewey at the front desk to initiate the work form process.

This certifies that I am aware of the above policy and will comply with it. I understand that noncompliance can result in administrative sanctions as noted in the Bulletin and Handbook of Policies and will be a violation of the school’s Student Code of Conduct.
