The U.S. Department of Education’s Financial Aid site offers help with completing FAFSA, and FAFSA on the WEB, where you can file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid online and submit it via the Internet. The Student Guide is useful for finding federal student financial aid programs and how to apply for them.
The Access Group site is where to apply online for UNM law school grant aid with the Need Access application. (Because UNM is a direct lending institution, students do not need outside lenders for federal loan programs.) In addition to the need analysis form, this site has a useful downloadable loan calculator. You can calculate monthly payments on the amount you are considering borrowing. The site also has links to credit bureaus, credit resources, and credit counseling. See the Need Access Brochure for detailed information.
The FinAid site lists awards, scholarships, grants, and loans. It also offers advice on financial matters.
The New Mexico Public Service Law Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) provides legal educational loan repayment assistance to individuals providing public service in state or local government or the non-profit sector in New Mexico to low income or underserved residents. This is a service-based program, which requires a three year commitment to work in Public Service Law. Please see Loan Repayment Assistance Programs for more information.
