Elizabeth Love Anderson, who served on the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court from its inception in 1980 until her retirement in 1996, died on June 22, 2011, in Orem, Utah, of complications from cancer and a fall that broke her hip. She was one of four women in the University of New Mexico School of Law Class of 1971.
Anderson, who went by the name Elizabeth Love during her years in Albuquerque, was strict in the courtroom, but was known for being unconventional in her private life. A memorial service was held in mid-July in Albuquerque.
