The University of New Mexico Student Union Ballroom was abuzz with excitement when more than 425 alumni and friends of the UNM School of Law gathered to celebrate the achievements and contributions of former Professor Anne Bingaman, Richard Civerolo (`50), Professor and former Dean Ted Parnall (`67, January) and Wendy York (`82). They each received the 2012 Distinguished Achievement Award during an October banquet.
Opening the evening’s program was Interim Dean Barbara Bergman. Samantha Adams (`03), president of the UNM School of Law Alumni/ae Association and co-chair of the dinner committee, was the evening’s mistress of ceremonies. An engaging video presentation preceded each award presentation. Civerolo was unable to attend the dinner, and his son, Paul (`82), accepted the award on behalf of his father.
The Distinguished Achievement Awards Dinner is presented by the UNM School of Law and the school’s Alumni/ae Association. In addition to honoring members of the legal community for their outstanding accomplishments, the dinner raises funds for the Alumni/ae Association Board scholarships. These scholarships are the school’s only merit-based full-tuition scholarships presented to incoming law students.
