Our Clients
Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs Memo to Clients
Thank you for allowing the UNM Clinical Law Program to consider your case for possible representation. The Clinical Law Program’s primary mission is to educate UNM law students though service to individual and group clients. Third year law students (occasionally second years students) working under the supervision of licensed attorneys/ professors, provide a variety of legal services for clients unable to afford an attorney.
You will meet with a law student who gathers information about your case. All clients are required to complete the financial information on the Client Intake/Interview form. After your first meeting with the student, the clinic faculty determines whether to accept your case. We try to notify you of this decision within ten days. However, there may be situations where we need to gather more information before we make the decision. If that is the case, we will let you know that it will take longer than ten days to make the decision. If we accept your case, you will be asked to sign and return a letter outlining the terms and conditions of our representation. Because of the heavy client load, we are unable to serve all who seek our assistance.
The UNM Clinical Law Program does not agree to represent you until you return the signed case acceptance letter to the clinic and all clinic fees are paid. If you are unable to pay the fees, please let the student know.
The UNM Clinical Law Programs strives to provide quality representation using the highest standards of professional conduct.
