Southwest Indian Law Clinic
Teaching in the Southwest Indian Law Clinic (SILC) is the maximum learning experience that a quality law school can provide: both teacher and student learn about the law and how it works positively or does not work in the lives of ordinary people. The clinic melds formal law knowledge and actual practice as an attorney. It provokes introspection about what we do as lawyers in our ethical relationship with clients (in SILC, Indian individuals, tribes, and organizations). Ultimately, clinic forces one to ask if justice has been made real in our world, a question that attorneys should wrestle with all of their professional lives.
