  • Business Law Seminar

  • Course Description
This course exposes students to how different areas of business taught in discrete courses intersect in complex ways in the marketplace and in sophisticated business law practice by focusing in depth on a particular "hot topic" in business law.

In Spring 2009, the course will focus on the so-called "Subprime Loan Crisis" and will explore the mortgage marketplace, securitization, credit markets and regulation of financial institutions.
Grading will be primarily based on a research paper on a topic to be selected by the student in consultation with the instructor that should be a serious work of scholarship. Students may use this course to satisfy the writing requirement.

STUDENTS WHO EXPECT TO FULFILL THE LAW SCHOOL'S WRITING REQUIREMENT THROUGH THIS CLASS MUST SPEAK WITH THE PROFESSOR BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS TO DEVELOP A SCHEDULE TO ENSURE THAT THE REQUIREMENT COULD BE MET IN A TIMELY MANNER.
