Virginia Dugan is one of the preeminent family law attorneys in the state, and is a partner and shareholder with Atkinson & Kelsey, P.A., the oldest and largest divorce and family law firm in the state. She specializes in alimony, child support, collaborative law, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. Ms. Dugan has amassed a national record of service contributing to her reputation in the field. She is current a member of the American Bar Association's Family Law Section Council, and is a past chair of the Scope and Marital Property Committees of the American Bar Association's Family Law Section, and has also served on the Section's Continuing Legal Education Committee. She is a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Locally, her record of service includes serving as former president of the New Mexico State Bar's Board of Bar Commissioners. She is a member of the New Mexico Supreme Court's Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee, and has chaired the State Bar's Committee on Professionalism, and the Bench and Bar Committee. Ms. Dugan has an "A" rating from the attorney rating service, Martindale-Hubbell, and has been listed as a "Southwest Super Lawyer" annually since 2007, in Best Lawyers in America since 2010, and was named Best of the Bar for Family Law" in 2011 by New Mexico Business Weekly. She has lectured and taught about domestic violence issues for the ABA, National Business Institute, Lorman Education Services, Today's Law School, and the New Mexico State Bar since 1999. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from UNM School of Law and holds a Master's degree and a Doctoral degree in Education from UNM.
