Jenny Dumas

Jenny Dumas has a Bachelor's Degree from UNM, magna cum laude, with a concentration in Native American Studies. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She subsequently earned her Juris Doctor degree from the UNM School of Law, summa cum laude. She is a member of the Order of the Coif and holds numerous academic awards earned while in law school. Following law school, she held a prestigious Federal appellate clerkship at the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been practicing law, specializing in Indian Law, for nearly ten years. She has practiced at the prestigious Nordhaus Law Firm, Wiggins, Wiggins & Wiggins, P.C., and as attorney to the Governing Council of the Native American Community Academy, an Albuquerque public charter school serving the educational needs of Native American students. As an attorney, her practice has included litigation and transactional work concerning federal and state water rights, tribal water projects and sovereign immunity, contract law, real estate, business and employment matters. She provides client support for land acquisition, tribal court matters and intergovernmental disputes. Her record of service to the profession includes serving as a Board member of the Indian Lawyers Section of the State Bar of New Mexico. She is licensed to practice in the Pueblo of Laguna Tribal Court.
