Jennifer Landau

Jennifer Landau ('06) is an attorney with Diocesan Migrant & Refugee Services, Inc. (DMRS), the largest provider of free and low-cost immigration-related legal services in West Texas and New Mexico. She specializes in the area of removal defense.

From 1999 to 2002, Landau worked at the International Institute of New Jersey, providing social service and family reunification assistance to West African refugees and survivors of torture.

During law school at UNM, she worked with immigrant survivors of domestic violence at Catholic Charities and conducted comparative law and human rights research in Costa Rica and South Africa. In 2007 she was awarded a two-year Equal Justice Works Fellowship to provide legal services to New Mexico immigrants in removal proceedings.

Landau grew up in northern New Jersey. She has a B.A. from Macalester College and an M..A. in Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico, where she also earned her J.D. along with clinical honors and the Clinical Legal Association Outstanding Student Award.

Landau is a past chair of the Immigration and International Section of the State Bar of New Mexico and a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyer’s Guild.
