Marte Lightstone

Marte Lightstone is one of the preeminent oil and gas law attorneys in the state, and is a partner and shareholder with the Modrall Sperling law firm. She has practiced law, specializing in natural resources and oil and gas matters for 25 years, and has amassed a national record of service contributing to her reputation in the field. She previously taught an Advanced Writing on Natural Resources Issues class for the law school. She chaired the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association's Legal Committee from 2004 to 2010, and has served as Vice-President of the Albuquerque Petroleum Association since 2009. She served on the Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law of the State Bar of New Mexico from 1989 to 1997, and as the section's chair from 1995 to 1996. She has an extensive record of service to other organizations. Ms. Lightstone holds an "AV" peer rating from the attorney rating service, Martindale-Hubbell, has been listed in Best Lawyers in America (Oil and Gas), and has been named a Southwest Super Lawyer (Natural Resources Law). She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of New Mexico in 1986, and holds a Master's degree in Spatial Analysis of Land Use from the University of Arizona.
