Rebecca Shreve

Rebecca Shreve is an attorney with the firm of John W. Lawit, which represents clients in the spectrum of immigration law. She specializes in family-based immigration cases, citizenship and removal defense. She routinely represents clients in immigration proceedings in front of the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and in immigration courts and appellate bodies of the Department of Justice.

Shreve grew up in the twin ports of Duluth, Minn. and Superior, Wis. She has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and graduated cum laude in 2007 from the University of New Mexico School of Law.

During law school, she worked with immigrant survivors of domestic violence at Catholic Charities, specializing in VAWA self-petitioners and U visa cases for victims of violent crime.

Shreve is active in community advocacy for immigrants. She has served on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union since 2005 and currently is chair of the International and Immigration Section of the New Mexico State Bar. She participates in the New Mexico Task Force against Human Trafficking and is a regular volunteer educator and attorney for ACORN.

She speaks Spanish fluently and Portuguese conversationally.
