Profile

Visiting Professor Cynthia Armijo graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1998. After graduation, Professor Armijo then moved to California where she worked in the Child Support Enforcement Division of the District Attorney’s Office in San Diego, California. At that position, she negotiated settlement agreements for non-custodial parents who were delinquent in paying child support. At her next position, she worked on a death penalty case at the Alternate Public Defender’s Office in San Diego, California. Professor Armijo then returned to New Mexico and became a prosecutor in the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition to prosecuting gang cases, she also acted as a supervising attorney charged with training new prosecutors how to litigate criminal cases. She later opened the Armijo Law Firm, where she represented both criminal and civil clients. Professor Armijo has been a practicing attorney for over fifteen years. She has litigated hundreds of cases during her time as an attorney. Professor Armijo has taught law courses for the past fifteen years. She has completed her coursework for her Ph.D. and is currently working on her dissertation.
