Judicial Vacancies
The Constitution of New Mexico mandates conduction of Judicial selection by the Judicial Nominating Commission, a board comprised of New Mexico Judges, attorneys and citizens, chaired by the Dean of the UNM School of Law.
The Commission solicits applications, interviews and recommends candidates to the Governor of New Mexico for each judicial vacancy.

BERNALILLO COUNTY METROPOLITAN COURT
JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION - RECONVENING
The Metropolitan Court Judicial Nominating Commission reconvened on Friday, May 9, 2008, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to consider the Governor’s request for additional names, and completed its evaluation of eight (8) applicants for the vacancies on the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court. The Commission recommends the following three (3) additional applicants in alphabetical order to Governor Bill Richardson: LeEtte R. Lawrence, Betsy R. Salcedo, Reed S. Sheppard.
The name of Maria I. Dominguez was forwarded to the Governor after the Metropolita Court Nominating Commission originally met on April 9, 2008.

2ND JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT
ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
A vacancy on the 2nd Judicial District Court will exist in Albuquerque as of July 1, 2008, upon the retirement of the Honorable J. Michael Kavanaugh.
The Chair of the 2nd Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission solicits applications for this position from lawyers who meet the statutory qualifications in Article VI, Section 14 of the New Mexico Statutes Annotated 1978. The deadline for applications has been set for Friday, May 30, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Applications received after that date are not considered.
The Judicial Nominating Commission will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17,2008, at the County Courthouse, 400 Lomas NW, Courtroom 338, Albuquerque, NM, to evaluate all applicants for this position.
