Professor Scott Hughes has been a member of the faculty of the University of New Mexico School of Law since 1999 where he teaches Basic and Advanced Mediation, Theory of Conflict, and Introduction to Alternative Dispute Resolution. He is a frequent, national speaker on cutting edge developments in conflict transformation, mediation advocacy, mediation ethics, confidentiality, and ADR teaching techniques. He has trained mediators all over the United States and has been a guest lecturer at Universities and Ministries in Europe. Professor Hughes is also a professional mediator, facilitator, strategic planner, and process designer. His work includes facilitation for state and federal agencies and national initiatives.

He is a member of the Board of Editors of the Conflict Resolution Quarterly. He received his J.D. cum laude from Creighton University in 1976 and his LL.M. from Temple University in 1995.
