Family Mediation

Family Mediation is an intensive 40-hour course best suited for those who have completed a Basic Mediation training. The focus of skills development will be on the mediation of parenting, support and property issues in divorce and post-decree cases. Simulations of family mediations will be the primary training tools. Classroom focus will be on analysis of the mediation process and psychological issues of parenting and divorce in the context of New Mexico’s legal structure.

Materials
We provide detailed materials including a workbook, The Art of Mediation, describing the stages of mediation, mediation skills and ethical standards; forms for mediation practice, information on networking, building a practice, professional associations and a bibliography.
Cost
The cost for the course is $895.00. The fee includes registration of 30 MCLE credits (may receive 10 additional credits at $1.00 each), workbook, parking, and light refreshments. You may reserve your space in the course by paying $395.00 at the time of registration, with the balance due the first day of class. We accept checks, cash or credit cards (VISA or MasterCard). Class sizes are limited.
Refunds
If you cancel more than two weeks before the training, we will refund your deposit minus a processing fee of $50. If you cancel less than two weeks before the training we reserve the right to retain your tuition fee if we cannot fill your slot with another paid participant. If we can find someone to fill your slot, we will refund your tuition minus the $50 processing fee; if not, we will retain your fee. If you are unable to complete the training due to illness or family emergency we do not make partial refunds, but we will work with you on the possibility of attending a subsequent training at no charge, subject to available space.
CLE Credit
For legal professionals, this mediation training provides 30 MCLE credits (26 general, 2 ethics and 2 professional) included in the cost of the training, and registered for you by UNM. An additional 10 MCLE credits may be purchased for $1.00 each. 40 MCLE credits may allow you to seek mediation certification in those states which require certification.
