Iris Augusten, student editor-in-chief of the Natural Resources Journal, has been awarded a scholarship by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Foundation for Spring 2007. Only seven scholarships were awarded out of 33 applications from students representing 12 law schools. Scholarship selections are based on the interest of candidates in natural resources law and their potential to make significant contributions to the field.
The foundation is an educational organization dedicated to providing scholarly research of the laws and issues affecting domestic and international mineral and water resources. The goals of the foundation are to foster and encourage a scholarly and yet practical study of the law and applicable regulations relating to oil and gas, mining, water, public land management, land use, conservation, environmental protection and other related areas. The UNM School of Law is a member of the foundation.
