Laura Gómez to Sign Manifest Destinies

Laura GómezProfessor Laura Gómez will discuss and sign her groundbreaking book, Manifest Destinies: The Making of the Mexican American Race, at a number of venues in recognition of its recent release in paperback.

Using the territory that is now New Mexico as a case study, Manifest Destinies traces the origins of Mexican Americans as a racial group in the United States, paying particular attention to shifting meanings of race and law in the 19th century.

At the UNM School of Law, Gómez also serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Development and she is a Professor of American Studies on main campus.
