Professor Laura Gómez, associate dean for research, was a panelist at "Making History: Race Gender and the Media in the 2008 Elections", a two-day symposium at St. John's University School of Law.
The late-September interdisciplinary event included a series of panel discussions, featured dialogues, and addresses, including a keynote address by Donna Brazile, founder and managing director of Brazile and Associates.
Gomez served on a panel that discussed the intersection of race, gender, media and the political process. The title of her presentation was, "What's Race Got to Do with It? Latinos and Press Coverage of the 2008 Democratic Primary".
