UNM Law Professor Eileen Gauna, who has worked extensively in the area of environmental justice, recently provided input to a President-elect Barack Obama committee working on energy and natural resources. Members of the committee included Lisa Jackson, proposed head of the Environmental Protection Agency and Carol Browner, who is expected to be named the White House's chief of energy and environmental issues. She is a former EPA administrator.
Gauna is a member of the EPA's National Environmental Justice Advisory Council, the Environmental Justice Committee of the American Bar Association's Individual Rights and Responsibilities Section and a member of the Environmental Justice Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section on Environment, Energy and Resources. She is also a member scholar at the Center for Progressive Regulation.
