LAMBDA Presents First LGBT Mixer

A business-casual mixer to welcome LGBT and ally law students into the New Mexico legal community will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on April 29 at the Hotel Andaluz. During the First Annual LGBT & Ally Student/Attorney Mixer, law students will learn about the history of LGBT civil rights in New Mexico, LAMBDA efforts at the law school and meet local lawyers.

The mixer is being sponsored by LAMBDA law students and the New Mexico Lesbian and Gay Bar Association.

At the law school, the LAMBDA Law Students Association is working to:

• Increase the number of out LGBT students and applicants who perceive the UNM law school as the best place to begin their legal career;
• Educate local judges and lawyers about legal issues affecting the LGBT community through the addition of a Williams Institute Moot Court team to the law school curriculum;
• Prepare future lawyers to make strong appellate civil rights arguments;
• Educate local LGBT college and high school students about LGBT legal issues as well as the law school application process.
