Kristopher Houghton (`08) took home top honors in the 2010 La Luz Trail Run, running the nine miles from the foothills to the top of Sandia Crest in 1 hour, 24 minutes and 22 seconds. This was the first time he won the grueling foot race, which climbs nearly 4,600 feet up the mountain.
During law school, Houghton, a longtime competitive long-distance runner, who has performed well in Olympic trials, organized law-school teams and raised $1,000 to help battle genocide in Darfur at the 2006 Duke City Marathon.
Since earning his J.D. in 2008, he has been clerking for Chief Justice Charles Daniels of the New Mexico Supreme Court.
