LULAC Panel Looks at Supreme Court Impact

UNM Law Professor Laura Gómez participated in a panel discussion during the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) annual convention in mid-July. The panel presentation, hosted by Hispanics for a Fair Judiciary, addressed the topic, “Justice Matters: The Elena Kagan Nomination and the Impact of the Supreme Court on the Latino Community.”

Among the panelists were Hector Balderas (`01), New Mexico state auditor; Judge Manuel Arrieta of New Mexico’s Third Judicial District; Ray Valdez, LULAC legal counsel; Liz Lopez, vice president of external affairs for the National Hispanic Bar Association and James Ferg-Cadima, regional counsel for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

LULAC was holding its 81st annual convention and exposition in Albuquerque.
