Gabriel "Jack" Chin presented a Constitution Day lecture that addressed the constitutional aspects of Arizona's controversial immigration law, known as SB 1070. His talk was titled, "Immigration: A State or Federal Responsibility?" and attracted a campus-wide gathering at a ballroom inside the UNM Student Union Building in mid-September. The University of New Mexico School of Law organized the annual event.
Chin is a law professor at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, where he teaches immigration law, criminal law and criminal procedure. In recent months, he has provided extensive input on Arizona's new immigration law to national audiences.
