New faces joined the University of New Mexico School of Law community in August, receiving a warm welcome during orientation activities before the start of the fall semester. Judge Linda Vanzi (`95) of the New Mexico Court of Appeals shared words of encouragement to the 116 entering students during an informal dinner.
This year's entering class was chosen from 1,200 applicants. Slightly more men than women make up the class, reversing a trend of more women than men in law-school classes. The median age is 26. Forty percent of the class is minorities.
