Dr. Phillip Resnick, a noted forensic psychiatrist who has been at the center of some of the highest profile court cases in United States history, will present a public lecture at 3 p.m. March 31 at the University of New Mexico School of Law, Room 2401. The lecture, titled, “The Andrea Yates Case: Insanity on Trial,” is free and open to the public.
Resnick, a professor of psychiatry and director of the Division of Forensic Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, will be visiting UNM at the invitation of the UNM Health Sciences Center’s IDEAS in Psychiatry program, a nonprofit educational institute that provides up-to-date scientific information about psychiatric illnesses, symptoms and treatments.
Andrea Yates, Jeffrey Dahmer, Scott Peterson, Timothy McVeigh and Ted Kaczynski are some of the defendants in cases Resnick has been involved in, both with the prosecution and defense.
Reservations are not required for the UNM School of Law lecture and parking will be available in the L lot.
