Professor Reed Benson was among nine distinguished water law professors from across the United States to participate in an Oct. 7 symposium at Lewis & Clark Law School. The symposium was titled, "21st Century Water Law", to commemorate the retirements of two of the school's esteemed environmental law professors.
Benson spoke on, “Public Funding Programs for Environmental Water Acquisitions”, as part of a session titled, “Water Rights, Climate Change, and the Public Trust.
Topics at the day-long symposium included the convergence of Eastern and Western water law, water rights and changing ecological conditions, takings and riparian water rights, watershed governance and coastal zone management and climate change and water law. The papers presented will be published in a forthcoming issue of Environmental Law.
