Professor Sherri Burr recently completed a three-year term on the American Bar Association Silver Gavel Selection Committee. Silver gavel awards for media and arts are given to individuals and groups who write books and articles, or produce films, television, radio and documentaries that explain the law to the general public.
Recipients of the 2012 awards included “The Death Penalty in America”, a commentary by Andrew Cohen that appeared in the Atlantic, “Women, War & Peace: I Came to Testify”, a five-part PBS television series and “Imminent Danger” a two-part series by Meg Kissinger in the Milwaukee Sentinel.
