Five new members have joined the Board of Directors of the University of New Mexico School of Law Alumni/ae Association. They are: Morris Chavez (`98), Sean Garrett (`01), Taylor Lueras (`12), Blaine Mynatt (`97) and Jennifer Rodriguez Rodgers (`09).
Morris Chavez is a shareholder with SaucedoChavez, an Albuquerque-based law firm. He focuses his practice on multiple insurance-related issues, specifically health-care reform and regulatory matters in New Mexico and across the country. From 2006-2010, he served as superintendent of insurance for the State of New Mexico. He was the youngest person in that role nationwide.
Sean Garrett is with the Montgomery & Andrews law firm, where his practice includes business transactions, insurance, labor and employment and real estate law. He also holds a bachelor’s of business administration degree from the UNM Anderson School of Management. He donates his time by volunteering every year to judge first-year advocacy arguments at the law school.
Taylor Lueras recently passed the New Mexico Bar Exam and has joined the New Mexico Public Defender’s Office. In law school, she was managing editor of the New Mexico Law Review. She also was a recipient of the Alumni Association’s merit scholarship, which provided tuition for all three years of law school. She is now happy to serve the organization that made her scholarship possible.
Blaine Mynatt is a director with Holt Mynatt Martinez, a Las Cruces civil practice law firm. Mynatt focuses his practice in the areas of property law, commercial litigation, employment law, civil rights defense, insurance defense and construction law. At the UNM School of Law, he earned a certificate in Natural Resources law.
Jennifer Rodriguez-Rodgers launched her own practice, R&R Family Law, in 2012. She also volunteers with New Mexico Asian Family Center, New Mexico Legal Aid and New Mexico Family Law Advocacy Group. In addition to the Alumni Board, she serves as a member of the Family Law Section Board.
The active UNM School of Law Alumni/ae Association provides broad-based support to the UNM School of Law. Among its many activities, the association sponsors the annual Summer Golf Classic and the annual Distinguished Achievement Awards Dinner. It has also established an Endowed Scholarship Campaign to make a lasting impact on the law school.
