Professor John Feldman, who coordinates the UNM School of Law's Alternative Dispute Resolution programs, received the first Presidential Award for "many years of contribution to the success and welfare of the New Mexico Mediation Association" on Saturday, October 12.

"John's recognition by NMMA is long overdue," said Jeff Griffith, NMMA Past President. "For years, he has given high-quality presentations for NMMA, has served on the Board, and has always been able to help. He's a wonderful friend to our organization."

Feldman served on the NMMA board for several years until last year and says he is very grateful for this award. "I have viewed myself as being in two circles, the circle of lawyer-mediators and that of non-lawyer mediators," says Feldman. "In that role, I have often been a bridge-builder."

Feldman is the commissioner representing the UNM School of Law on the New Mexico Supreme Court Statewide Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission and has taught mediation at the UNM School of Law since 1998.
