Kim Carpenter, co-author of "The Vow", a book that inspired one of the top-six highest grossing films of 2012, spoke to Regents Professor Sherri Burr's Entertainment Law class on April 13, 2014.

The book and the film are based on the life of the Carpenters after Kim's wife, Krickett, suffered a traumatic brain injury, lost 18 months of memory, and did not remember being married. Carpenter romanced her until she fell in love with him again and they remarried. The film starred Channing Tatum as Kim and Rachel McAdams as Krickett. After his talk, Carpenter gave each of the students a copy of the book.

Carpenter was introduced by Board of Regents' President Jack Fortner, who has known him and his family for 45 years. Burr says, "The visit by both President Fortner and Kim was a special treat for the class. The students really enjoyed their visit."
