Pat Sheehan Memorial Scholarship and Pursuit of Excellence Award

Pat SheehanThe University of New Mexico School of Law proudly announces the Pat Sheehan Memorial Scholarship, established by Sheehan & Sheehan, P.A., in honor of the late Pat Sheehan, who founded the firm in 1954. The Pat Sheehan Memorial Scholarship will provide one scholarship annually valued at $5,000 to an incoming first-year student who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given for New Mexico residents and for current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Sheehan & Sheehan has been a very strong supporter of the UNM Law School over the years and has recently increased its support. The firm funds a Pursuit of Excellence Award each year and doubled the amount of the award last year. The firm exclusively hires UNM students for its paid summer internships and has done so for at least the last 20 years. Most of Sheehan & Sheehan’s attorneys are UNM graduates and the firm has also supported scholarships through the UNM Law School Alumni Association’s golf tournaments Distinguished Achievement Awards for several years.

"This year marks our firm’s 60th anniversary of practicing law in New Mexico," says Timothy M. Sheehan, Director. "We have found over the years that maintaining a strong connection with our State’s only law school fits well with our collective efforts to enhance the quality, strength, and integrity of our Bar. We look forward to focusing on the next generation of lawyers."
