At the reception for the UNM Law School Not-for-Profit Art Gallery's Student Artist Show on April 25, attendees submitted their votes for their favorite piece in the show.
Second-year law student Heidi Todacheene won the most votes and the Art Committee's Purchase Award. "New Mexican Cuisine Haida Eagle" will become part of the permanent collection in the law school.
Todacheene used pastel and pencil on oak retablo to create her painting. "My drawings and photography help me express my creative and visual side," says Todacheene. "New Mexico culture inspires many of my pieces, and in my drawings, I make subtle changes to reflect that."
