Student Bar Association

Welcome

The Student Bar Association welcomes you to The University of New Mexico School of Law. As the Class of 2012, you have the distinction of being the 63rd UNM Law School Class!

The Student Bar Association (SBA) includes every law student. The SBA Executive Board serves as the primary avenue of communication between law students, Law School student organizations, the school's administration, the Graduate Students Association, and the State Bar of New Mexico. The SBA appoints students to serve on law school and university committees, sponsors social activities, speakers, movies, sports activities, provides UNM law student outlines, and disseminates information throughout the community.

The SBA Executive Board participates in the organization of the first-year orientation program by sponsoring the mentor program, a cookout, the faculty-mentor-student luncheon, and guest speakers. These events are funded primarily by a one time locker rental fee collected from students at the beginning of their first year. The fee is used for an assigned locker for three years, graduation events, guest speakers, and fun!

The SBA encourages you to become actively involved in the law school community of which you are now a part—involvement will enhance your education and provide lasting benefits. Your classmates will become your friends and peers in the profession. The professionalism you cultivate as a student will remain with you when you become an attorney.

We look forward to meeting each of you during the coming year, and we welcome you to the legal community!
