The Selection Process
Commission's Nominations
The Commission, in deciding on the candidates to nominate to the Governor, votes on two issues:
- is the candidate qualified, and
- should the candidate be recommended to the Governor based on the evaluation criteria.
The Chair does not vote except in the case of a tie. In all cases of a tie, the Chair will vote to send the candidate's name to the Governor.
Following the public vote by the Commission, the Chair sends to the Governor the names of the candidates nominated by the Commission. The names are listed in alphabetical order. In addition, the Chair sends the Governor the list of Commissioners and, for each nominee, the completed Application and letters of recommendation.
