ABA Solo Division Recognizes Indian Law Program

The Indian Law Program at the UNM School of Law was honored by the ABA's General Practice, Small Firm and Solo Division for its efforts to increase the number of Native American and Alaska Native lawyers in the legal profession.
Tony Alvarado, membership board chair of the ABA division, presented a certificate of recognition to Professor John LaVelle, director of the program. Following the presentation at the law school, Alvarado led a panel discussion for students, titled, "How to Find a Job in a Small Firm". Panelists were Joseph Sapien (not pictured) and Thomas Johnson, left, both of Albuquerque, Artika Tyner of St. Paul, MN and Alvarado, who practices in Austin, TX.
