The Don G. McCormick Writing Prize

Congratulations to Elliott Heater-Brown (2L), the winner of the Don G. McCormick Writing Prize! This prize is awarded to an ELA II student with the brief that best represents and exemplifies excellence in legal writing. Each ELA II professor nominates the best brief from their class, which they are judged by a respected member of the legal community. The judge will look for conciseness, clarity, proper legal citation, style, and ethical representation in the winning brief.

ExxonMobil contributes more than $500,000 to New Mexico education initiatives

UNM School of Law Embraces New ABA Professional Identity Mandate

The American Bar Association’s Accreditation Standard 303(b) requires that lawyers be trained in professional identity formation, including “the knowledge, skills, values, morals, goals and personality traits considered foundational to successful legal practice.” UNM School of Law is at the forefront of implementing this new standard.
