Students Spend Fall Break at National Health Law Conference

October 21, 2009

Five UNM law students spent their fall break at the National Health Law Student Conference at Seton Hall University School of Law, which has one of the nation’s leading programs in pharmaceutical law and health law. This was the first year UNM sent students to the three-year-old national conference, through the generosity of local donors.

The conference provided students with a networking opportunity through a day of workshops with nationally recognized health-law professionals who discussed the myriad career paths for lawyers in health and life sciences. Career paths represented include academia, compliance, private firms, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, drug and device companies, health insurers and hospitals.

"This was a great opportunity for the students to see the varieties of health practice inside and outside of New Mexico," says Professor Rob Schwartz. "We couldn’t have made it available without the generous assistance of local health lawyers, and we are all very appreciative of that help."

The conference was sponsored by Seton Hall and the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics.
