UNM Team Excels at Williams Moot Court Competition
March 21, 2011
The team of Jocelyn Barrett (`12), Matthew Coombs (`12), Jordan DeHaan (`12) and Gregory Segura (`12) represented the University of New Mexico School of Law at the 2011 National Sexual Orientation Law Moot Court Competition in early March.
"Though we did not advance, I don't really measure the students' success by that metric," said Professor Steven Homer, the team's coach. "Rather, I look instead at how much they grew over the practices and the significance of this moot court and their participation in it. From that perspective, it was an unqualified success.
"Though the moot court happens because of the competitors' hard work, we couldn't have done it alone – my gratitude to last year's team, who helped organize the practices, to the students who timed the practices, to Lambda for its support, and to the many judges and lawyers who gave our students such great questions in practice," said Homer.
The competition was sponsored by the Williams Institute at UCLA.
