Professor Steven K. Homer has been selected as the Director of the Legal Analysis and Communication Program at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Homer served as Interim Director of the program for seven months.

"Professor Homer has an exciting vision for the program. In addition, he has demonstrated an outstanding ability to work collaboratively with the other members of our legal writing faculty," says David Herring, Dean and Professor at the School of Law. "I have enjoyed working with him over the past eight months and I look forward to continuing our work together."

Founded by Professor Barbara Blumenfeld, the Legal Analysis and Communication Program offers traditional first year writing courses as well as upper level classes within the program. All the courses within the program focus on the analysis and communication skills needed to produce effective documents in the real world practice of law. They teach an approach to thinking that students can put to use in their substantive classes and when called upon to do scholarly writing.

"I'm excited to build on the excellent foundation that Barbara Blumenfeld left us, while also taking the legal writing program in new directions that address the different ways lawyers now write in practice," says Homer.
