Judge Anne Kass and Heidi Nesbitt, the Director of the Pre-Law Summer Institute (PLSI) and Assistant Director of the American Indian Law Center (AILC), have been selected to receive the 2015 Justice Mary Walters Award from the UNM Women's Law Caucus on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 6p.m. at the UNM Law School Forum.

“This year's honorees embody the pioneering spirit of Justice Mary Walters. Both are strong, independent women who are not limited by the status quo,” said Donna Baslee, President of the Women’s Law Caucus. “Their trailblazing style has served New Mexico well and left an indelible mark on our legal community. The Women's Law Caucus is honored to celebrate the careers of two such remarkable women.”

Each year, the Women’s Law Caucus chooses an outstanding woman in the New Mexico legal community to honor in the name of former Justice Mary Walters, the first woman appointed to the New Mexico Supreme Court.
