Professor Alex Ritchie Featured at Oil and Gas Meeting

Professor Alex Ritchie discussed new federal air quality regulations as a featured speaker at the 2012 Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico (IPANM) Annual Meeting in early August.
Ritchie accompanied his talk with a practical paper on new federal air quality regulations applicable to the oil and gas industry, introducing participants to various intricacies and implications of increasingly stringent standards recently promulgated by the Environmental Protection Agency to control emissions from oil and gas sources.
He was introduced by Dean Douglas M. Brown of the Anderson School of Management, who spoke briefly about the importance of the oil and gas industry to the State of New Mexico, and Gregory J. Nibert, president of IPANM, Chavez County commissioner and prominent New Mexico oil and gas lawyer. Also in attendance were a number of leaders in the business community, including Frank D. Gorham III, whose family established the Leon J. Kareltiz Chair in Oil & Gas Law at the University of New Mexico School of Law.
The IPANM Annual Meeting provides a forum for independent oil and gas producers in New Mexico to examine important and emerging issues for their industry. The two-day meeting was held at Sandia Resort and Casino.
Ritchie recently joined the faculty of the UNM School of Law, where he teaches oil and gas law and business law.
